Part 1: What is Motivational Interviewing and How Do You Successfully Use It During an Audit

·   Why is motivational interviewing (MI) suddenly the ‘buzzword’ and finding new applications in auditing?

·   What is motivational interviewing and what outcomes does it produce?

·   How to use a collaborative, person-centered directive auditing interview method for addressing the common problem of ambivalence about behavior change.

·   How to conduct effective audit interviews within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.

 

Part 2: Conducting Motivational Audit Interviews

·   Precept 1: Motivation to change is elicited from the client, and is not imposed from outside forces.

·   Precept 2. It is the client’s task, to articulate and resolve his or her ambivalence and audit issues.

·   Precept 3. How to NOT use direct persuasion for resolving issues.

·   Precept 4. How to elicit versus solicit information from the client.

·   Precept 5. How to help your client to examine, identify findings and resolve issues.

·   Precept 6. How to create a partnership during the audit process.

 

Part 3: What is Neuro-linguistic Programming and How Do You Successfully Use It During an Audit

Additional Information

TAC Rule 523.142(g) requires the CPE Sponsor to monitor individual attendance and assign the correct number of CPE credits. Participants will be asked to document their time of arrival and departure in compliance with this Rule. Additionally, attendance will be monitored throughout the day and CPE certificates will reflect actual attendance of each participant.

If you are making travel plans to come to Austin, we recommend making "refundable" air and hotel reservations or waiting until 14 days before the class to actually book your reservations. Courses are occasionally canceled or rescheduled due to low enrollment. We determine whether a course has enough participants 16 days prior to the course date. If we cancel or reschedule, we will email the participant and his or her billing contact no later than 14 days before the original class date.

Vending machines with Coca-Cola products and various snack items are available. There is also a refrigerator and microwave in our coffee bar area. Feel free to bring in your own drinks and food if you prefer.
