An Audit of Licensing and Enforcement at the Optometry Board

Overview
The Optometry Board (Agency) established adequate processes to ensure that it grants licenses to qualified and eligible candidates. It also conducted inspections and appropriately categorized and investigated complaints received from the public in accordance with Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 351 (Texas Optometry Act).
However, it did not refer all complaint dispositions to its governing board for review and approval, as required.
