A Quarterly Report of Full-Time Equivalent State Employees for the Quarter Ending August 31, 1995
Report Number 96-019
There were 262,880 full-time equivalent state employees for the quarter ending August 31, 1995,
according to reports filed by 211 state agencies and institutions of higher education.
There were 242,296 full-time state employees and 44,167 part-time state employees.
The number of full-time equivalent employees in state agencies increased by 2,844 and the number
in state institutions of higher education decreased by 6,964 over the quarter ending May 31, 1995,
resulting in a net decrease of 4,120 (or 1.54 percent). The majority of the increase in state
agencies was in the Department of Criminal Justice (2,440 FTEs) which is the result of staffing for
new prison units. The large decrease in higher education reflects the normal decrease in the
academic school year between spring semester and summer semester.
